Our journey began in 1965 in Serres, Central Macedonia, founded by grandfather Athanasios Balis. Over the decades, passed down to a new generation of leaders with a profound knowledge of apiculture, our craft evolved into a nomadic practice. Today, we travel across Central Greece and the Peloponnese, carefully selecting pristine, untouched landscapes to gather the finest and purest honey nature can provide.
In 2015, his grandson and current leader of our family business took the reins to revive our deep beekeeping heritage, officially founding Melomeni. Combining time-honored traditions with modern expertise, he breathes new life into our half-century-old legacy to share the ultimate taste of Greek honey with the world.
Throughout the years, we have remained dedicated to our craft by strictly applying the fundamental rules and standards of organic apiculture. This enduring commitment ensures that every practice in our apiary respects both the environment and the natural life cycle of our bees.
